🥇 Gold Delivery Service - how a silky Brazilian made Youtube history.

The first Youtube video to hit one million views. Forget Despacito. Forget Kim Kardashian. You know the one.

Back in 2005, Nike teamed up with the most exciting footballer on the planet, Ronaldinho Gaúcho, to create an era-defining advertisement. They couldn’t have picked a cooler customer. The Brazilian, originally from Porto Alegre, took to the field to give the brand new white and gold Nike Tiempo Legends a test run. The Tiempos went on to become one of the most desirable pairs of boots in the game.

Ronnie had been at FC Barcelona for two years when the video was released. The peak of his powers. He was playing a lead role in the Catalonian Revolution, dragging Barcelona back into the forefront of world football. A few months later, he deservedly won the Ballon d’Or. Nike took full advantage of peak Ronaldinho and created one of the most memorable and well loved pieces of footage in football advert history.

10 years on from the original advert, Nike released an honorary Tiempo Legend remake. The Nike Air Legend R10 boots dropped in 2018 and paid tribute to one of the greatest footballers of a generation. Only 1,000 were available.

Of course, the video arrived with a degree of controversy. Even Ronaldinho wasn’t skilled enough to continuously volley the ball against the crossbar over and over again. The video caused much debate over just how magic his feet really were. 

Despite its legitimacy, the video is undoubtedly entertaining and has been appreciated by football fans across the world. Just another contributing factor to Ronaldinho’s legendary legacy.
